I was meeting with a couple yesterday and they told me their sister had worked for a company as a manager for several years and that when this man’s company was bought by a larger company she received a raise and life was good except that she had several thousand dollars tied up in a 401 K that the previous owner had not released to her even after several contacts. When they asked what to do, I suggested that she have an attorney make a call on her behalf.
If she had a Pre-Paid Legal plan this would be easy to do. She would call the law firm, explain the problem, an attorney would call her back with 24 hours and after explaining the problem, the attorney would make the call on her behalf and follow up with a letter if the attorney deemed it necessary. All of this would have been covered in the small monthly fee paid to have access to an attorney.
